At the heart of Journey Beyond 2012 is a lightweight but very pleasant and enjoyable romance story. But the overall tone of this book is very similar to that of The Celestine Prophecy, in that it's a fictional story that's a modern day parable being used to teach a few philosophies and predictive ideas.

The premise of the book is extremely interesting and compelling. However, it is the treatment of the subject that really sets this book apart.

I normally don't care for books that deal with sensationalist subjects, but this one is an exception. The story and characters hooked me early on and I cared about what happened to them.
